Terrible service. Terrible products. Terrible technicians.
From day 1 of installation my equipment hasn’t worked. At least twice a week the printers in my kitchen would go down for ~5 hours until eventually only 2 out of 4 printers worked. For WEEKS I had to beg them to send a tech out until they finally did. After the 2 hr visit, they assured me the problem was resolved. The printers went down that night.
I’ve called Upserve ~30/40 times to resolve this issue and can barely get anyone in the phone let alone help. They continue to charge me for their system but I’ve switched over to TOAST 3 months ago.

We have been attempting to cancel our service with them for weeks after our contract expires and still can’t get a response. It seems once the buyout occurred all customer service went out the window. There are far too many options for POS providers out there to deal with this.

Hello,
DO NOT PURCHSE THIS SYSTEM!!! Iam so frustrated. This system was once a user freindly reliable system.... Fast forward 7 years later... I just opend my little wine bar 4 months ago... gravitated to BreadCrumb ... as I had used it and recommended it to several other establishments...
now a 3rd purchse later? They are called Light Speed Upserve.... The hardware is
* Glitchey, outdated
*Sales reps are attententive
* The implimentation folks and customer care staff are unreliable
not at all helpful in solving many of the strange glitches.
* There are 3 differnt platforms to acesss... certain platforms work better than others for certain roles... very confusing and frustrating...
*Breaking of your contract will cost upwards of $20,000
*If you aren't happy with your hardware you can not return it ...
I have swiched to Square... as I was that stressed from the back end hoops to leap through to the annoying problems my staff had to deal with nightly.. card readers not working, the Android Terminal not repsonding to touch, the handhelds not designed for a menu that has several items... I can not give them any stars but I have to give one or I can not post.
Terrible that they can under provide but you are stuck paying them....

This was a highly reliable platform It has been purchased (2x) and most recently by Lightspeed, the recent vampire-squid of POS and dat companies. They are clearly in customer acquisition mode, likely with an eye towards a public or private equity deal based upon subscriber-base. For those trying to use the platform and base our businesses around it- it has gone from partner to an anchor around our necks. Daily failures of all systems, backend issues. We have several times had full access to another company's data (and so assume likewise with our data). Card processing funds seem to wander off and fund much later, we assume that Lightspeed must be taking a sweep day to make pennies off of our nickels. Aggressive sale, no follow through, customer service vanished, hardware is outdated and costs are high. A perfect example of a good company taken down in under 6 months. We were their customers to lose. And they did.

1st level customer service awesome. Beyond that, good luck. Nobody owns the issue. No cohesion, reward/loyalty incomplete. Reports incomplete. Takes long to pay CC $ but CC fees come out right away.....even if it falls on a weekend. Took my CC fees for October(which ended on Saturday) Monday morning but don't give me my CC deposit funds until Wednesday? hmmmmm. Been with them 8 years...they aren't moving forward. Stuck in time. Getting passes by others. If I did not have all those years of data, I'd be gone. Check out Toast or Square, Heartland...

They don't even deserve 1 star. I used this company for inventory management. My restaurants closed, I did not give them 30 days notice, so no credit. I called as soon as the decision was made to close. Kyle the account manager would not even speak to me about this situation. Anyone looking to do business with this company think twice. Horrible experience.

Try calling when the system is down and you have customers waiting, better chance on winning the lottery. Went of of business and upserve charging my account over $3000. In fees . Be alert and make sure they credit your account if they process credit cards for your business. Upserve making a hard situation so much harder God help me

AWEFUL AWEFUL AWEFUL CROOKS WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. I have been in the restaurant industry for 16 years and never been treated the way upsurge treated our restaurant. It' sad I even have to rate them with a one star because they deserve zero. I called for pricing and information on services and they informed me I had to sign some paperwork in order to get that information. My company went ahead and signed but we were clear about only wanting information. We decided in the end to choose to work with upserve. 8 weeks later our restaurant never received any services of hardware. Talk about hard times- working a busy restaurant without a POS system. Then they have the audacity to call me and say I'm not paying my bill. First of all I never received a bill and second of all I had no services nor equipment so what exactly do I owe them money for? They were quick to call me and say they will be shutting my services off if I don't pay them (I still had not received anything so I had no services to be shut off) but I called and called and called customer service and emailed the contacts I had been in touch with initially only to be told my "case" had been sent to "upper management." Two months after that I find out that "upper management" is a collections agency. This is ridiculous, if Upserve wants to answer my calls and return my emails that would be amazing. I want to know why I never received anything but yet still I'm being told that I owe them $7,000.00. They are having a collections agency call me and say that if I pay by October 31st then I get to only pay $1200.00 Whooohoooo! What a deal.... how do they get away with this?! As an owner of a Mom and Pop this company will not root for you, please do not use Upserve they don't care about your business.

I have a multi-unit restaurant group that my manager was looking to switch to UPserve and we had talked to the rep to the point that he asked us to sign the contract to lock down the price but was not obligated to move forward. Fast forward to 7 months later I have no hardware and ability to charge a single transactions have called numerous times to stop charging me over 1000 a month. They hide behind the agreement that their now fired employee had said didn't obligate me to move forward. I defaulted to them having to at least fulfill the contract and they are putting it on me of when did I order the equipment. Gave them enough chances to just cancel the subscription or fulfill. Either would of suited me but now I want a FULL refund of services not rendered!!! I will update this review as this is ongoing.

My small business switched to upserve for our pos system. It is easy to use, reliable and aesthetically appealing. It allows us many features and reports that are essential to our efficient operations. Customer support is available 24/7. Very pleased with this system.

We chose breadcrumb over Toast because of the intuitiveness, the powerful analytics and great customer service. We have three stationary terminals and one handheld and are happy with everything. When there were hiccups, tech help was there and guided us to a resolution.

Great tool for knowing what's going on at the restaurant when I'm not there. Sales, labor, and voids are right there on my screen! I can manage costs better with this app. Plus I like being able to compare sales to last week or year.

We’ve tried lots of POS’s and this is my fav. Upserve payments allows you to discern new vs repeat guests and drill down on server activity. Lots of features and great (usable) reportable tools. very accurate. Very stable. Great offline mode and consistent updates.
The only downside is that they don’t have a “no sale” report and for those of us who have tabs (bar industry) the server reporting tool will assign sales to the person closing the tab. So the see who’s selling what feature doesn’t work well for us.

It is a very thorough and straight forward restaurant management and team building tool. Takes all components in consideration in striving for the best workplace possible. All departments are able to come together by taking all personal viewpoints with a grain of salt. Recommend for sure!

I’ll start off by saying. Set up by the third party company was a mess. It wasn’t the best foot to start off on.
But, having had the breadcrumb POS with Upserve for 3 full months, we have saved a lot of money in credit card processing fees. It’s basically paying for itself. It’s nice to have the piece of mind to be able to check in on all the numbers without having to be on site through their mobile app or website.
The back end of the POS system lacks some basic features I would have liked to see, like when making something a Carryout order, there should be an option to make it tax free. Instead, you have to edit each order to take off the tax. Sounds like a small thing, but when you’re doing a couple hundred orders a day, it gets a bit tedious. Another basic feature they lack is to be able to make something on the same order marked as carry out and something as dine in. I have talked to the company and they said they will try to make edits in the next update. They try to work with out with the things they lack. Overall, breadcrumb puts you in control of your own POS system. Making edits and changes literally happen in seconds and saves us the time and hassle from having to call the company each time. That being said you can chat, call, or email them almost anytime and get things solved. The chat feature is my favorite. It’s not always online, but when it is (usually during business hours), then it works so so well.
If you are thinking of switching to a new POS system from an older style POS system, I’d say do it. If I had to do it again, I would work with Upserve again.

Finally a POS system that has everything that you need right at your fingertips. It is extremely user friendly and one of the most up-to-date pos systems that I have ever worked with. They also have 24 hour support and the team is always helpful.

Upserve has consistently excellent support to answer any and all of our questions and concerns! Support staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. If there’s a feature that our company is interested in that they don’t currently have, they’ll put in a request to get that feature added to their platform. Fantastic functionality and reporting. So glad our company switched to upserve and breadcrumb pos!

My primary interaction with upserve is using their POS Breadcrumb. The system is kind of buggy and sometimes breaks for no apparent reason. That be being said, the customer support has always been outstanding. They have stepped up and fixed issues quickly. Overall, I am satisfied if not overjoyed with the product.

Excellent point of sale system for our bar, restaurant, and banquet hall. Easy to use and very easy to train new employees. We have experienced only a couple of hours of down time in the four years we have used Upserve/Breadcrumb. Affordable, too!

Upserve itself is great. I’ve always enjoyed dealing with them. I’m of then opinion they need to bring in a very creative very talented individual who is familiar with their pos system breadcrumb to do some adjustments to that arm of their company to really set themselves apart.

Ties into Micros and have rarely encountered issues with service or support. The app has all the KPIs you'll need and posts at a higher frequency with better accuracy than Oracle's InMotion app.
The fact that we've had very high turnover with our reps is concerning, but the lack of issues we have makes it easier to manage.
FEATURE REQUEST: Can we please have the ability to view menu item sales for more than 1 location at a time? Being able to setup a hierarchy and view trends across these levels is what's holding us back from recommending this across the board for our concept.
